This has been the summer of 2012.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve heard from more than one source that this has been<\/p>\n<p> \u201c\u2026the hottest July on record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That can\u2019t be right.<\/p>\n<p>There are fossilized palm trees in Siberia.<\/p>\n<p>Evidently, Siberia had enough warm summers to support palm trees, water slides, and expensive sunscreen displays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJerry, that was not \u2018on record\u2019,\u201d you might say. \u201cThose are fossils.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response to that, I have two words.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cFossil Record.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>People either have to stop saying \u201cThis has been the hottest July on Record,\u201d or they have to stop calling it \u201cThe Fossil Record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t care which way it goes. <\/p>\n<p>The whole matter could be settled between environmentalists, and paleontologists with a thumb wrestling war.
